DESCRIPTION: A semester-year long undergraduate art program in France with innovative studio teaching residency in Brittany, France and cultural study visitations to major European art capitals, PASCA seeks to refresh the pool of full-time, one-semester term studio faculty. This is an ideal position for late junior or senior faulty planning sabbaticals or leaves for teaching or research. Instructors of Art History or Art Criticism with on-line or hybrid low=residence teaching experience may also apply for individual part-time course assignments. Four-week summer term positions are also available. All applicants must indicate the preferred type(s) of assignments

REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications: MFA or equivalent; ABD for Art History courses; Demonstrated ability interacting with diverse populations; Faculty with experience in on-line and non-traditional learning welcome; Minimum of five years full-time college-level experience teaching including graduate teaching assistantships; Outstanding portfolio, professional recognition, and continuing participation in field; Fluency in contemporary art media and criticism; Willingness to engage in non-teaching responsibilities that promote the continued development of PASCA; A strong commitment to an interdisciplinary view of studio work and teaching; Ability to relocate to France for faculty appointment.

Applicants should submit (electronically only) a letter of application, vitae, and contact information (name, email address, and telephone number) for three academic references. Applicants should also include course proposals that reflect the uniqueness of the PASCA program and indicate other courses for which they are qualified to teach. Applicants should also indicate their personal studio space requirements. Group proposals for institutes of two or four-week duration are welcome. Optional items for submission include a letter describing background or teaching/learning philosophy.

Applicants must also submit 20 images of recent work or 10 images and under five minutes of video footage, 10 images of recent student work, and an image list with your name clearly marked. All files must be submitted on a PC or MAC formatted CD or DVD. Each image file should be under 1MB in size and be clearly labeled with title and applicant's name. Please note: Materials will not be returned; all submissions are held for personnel decisions only in an archive with all prior pool members.

The Pont-Aven School of Contemporary Art is an international Fine Arts procgram, located in the historic artists community of Pont-Aven (Brittany, France). The student body consists of third-year and MFA university or art college honors students or post-baccalaureate and K-12 artists/teachers seeking further study. Courses are taught in English with French language training available. The semester program calendar alternates between focuses studio/classroom time in Pont-Aven with two intensive cultural site seminars to major centers of contemporary art, including London (Frieze), Paris (FIAC), Venice (Biennale), Madrid (ARCO), Berlin, Bilbao, and Barcelona.
