Post Baccalaureate
Are you ready to take the next step? Strengthen your practice, expand your portfolio.
Pont-Aven’s Post-Bac program offers a one or two semester residency aimed at strengthening studio practice and focusing artistic vision. The Post-Bac program welcomes students seeking comprehensive preparation for graduate study in art or immersion in studio art after another career or major. Rather than assignment driven, the Post-Bac residency is an independent, studio-based study program. The PASCA faculty serves as an advising committee.
Post-Bac residents work with the Academic Director and faculty members to refine their individual voices and hone their critical skills. Post- Bacs participate in regularly-scheduled seminars on topics related to contemporary art issues and professional practices, and are invited, if they wish, to attend a limited number of undergraduate courses. Individual and/or group critiques occur throughout the semester. Post-Bac residents are helped to build strong portfolios, write cohesive artist’s statements, and prepare applications for either advanced-degree programs or future artist’s residencies.
PASCA Post-Bac alumni have gone on to attend MFA programs at Columbia University, Yale University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the San Francisco Art Institute, among many other places; some have used the program to transition from one studio or design major to another, or to introduce themselves to American teaching methods in preparation for admission to U.S. graduate schools.
- 13 weeks of focused studio work in Pont-Aven
- 2 weeks of travel with faculty to European contemporary art centers
- A group exhibition and/ or Open Studio event at the end of the term
