Student Activities

To ease students into their international experience, PASCA has a locally based Coordinator of Student Activities. From acceptance into the program through its completion, the Coordinator acts as a liaison between students and the French Pont-Aven community and coordinates practical aspects of each student’s visit. Some of the local cultural activities in which you may wish to participate include:

  • Hiking excursions to local chapels and other historic sites
  • Day trips to the standing megaliths at Carnac
  • Bretagne fetes celebrating a unique local culture
  • Trips to the fine art and cultural museums in neighboring Quimper
  • Sketching excursions along the dramatic Bretagne coast

The Coordinator of Student Activities acts as a link to the culture of Pont-Aven and is responsible for organizing medical or dental appointments, school-affiliated travel, and other practical matters.

Prior to departing for France, students and faculty are supported by an American staff at PASCA’s US office in Providence, RI. Once en route to their semester or summer program abroad, students are met in Paris by the Coordinator of Student Activities and accompanied to Pont-Aven.
